ICOMOS
ICOMOS is a non-profit entity part of the UNESCO that strives to create awareness about monuments and buildings considered being of historical importance. One of their means of reaching their audience is a printed calendar based on pictures of these kinds of sites. I am involved as a photographer as well as in charge of the layout, design, and coordination with the editorial company. We have collaborated since 2020, and the calendar has sold out every year.
Photography process:
After thorough investigation of which are the sites of interest and coordinating with the rest of the editorial team in ICOMOS we visit multiple places to capture the essence of each place in order to depict its historic importance. After a careful process of curation, we select the best pictures to be featured in the calendar.
Design process:
As with most of my other projects, this one is also focused on client satisfaction. I start by presenting 2 or 3 options, upon which we iterate until we arrive to a solution that is both good looking and goes according to the client’s needs. From there we proceed to have multiple conversations as development happens to ensure we all agree with the progress. This has resulted in high satisfaction leading to me recently being called in to design the calendar for 2023.
